I like the analysis I heard once where the upbeat '80s poppiness of the original syncs up much better with the manic-depressive lyrics that are at once bouncy yet miserable ("the dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had") that gets lost when you do a much more simplistic "sad" version.[/quote]
