Yeah, it's a pretty idiosyncratic comedy that's rooted in a hyper-specific brand of Americana. Definitely not as widely accessible as the likes of, say, Love, Actually.
Well, I didn't grow up with it and my family hates it, so there goes that theory. Definitely could see it not translating well, tho.
Or maybe it just doesn't translate.
Again, seems like the kind of thing you have to grow up with.

Apparently it's some kind of around-the-clock staple in the States but here I've only ever noticed it on TV once a few years ago, watched it and thought it was...not good, to put it mildly. Seems like the kind of thing you have to grow up with.
This is just crazy talk. That movie is brilliant. The over the topness and insanity of it puts me in stitches every year.
