They've also got a call that sounds like a machine gun. That's great first thing in the morning and I've got at least one mating pair of the buggers in the trees behind the house.

No joke... I was going to ask this in a "True or False" thread. I was watching a film, and heard one. Sounds like a baby making a weird cry. I remember the first day in Australia hearing them... So annoying. Such a horrible sound! Almost as bad as an alarm clock!

Anyone here hate magpies? I hate magpies.
Got up this morning and found that a couple of the buggers had pulled roughly half a ton of moss and dirt from my gutters and dropped it onto my lovely powerwashed concrete walkway which circles the house.
Spent about an hour sweeping it up then, when I was putting my bins out at 5pm, found that they'd done it again! My back's now royally effed.
One for sorrow. Two for sorrow. Three for sorrow.
