The Shoutbox
guitar was my anti-theory instrument. sax was my primary and i had to take piano lessons with college theory. OMG I hated piano. loved theory, but hated piano. guitar was just me plucking randomly and de-tuning strings deliberately so i didn't have to know wtf i was doing. everything on guitar was by ear. even today, i can barely play a scale on it which is kinda sad now that i'm older.
I tend to focus on technique early with students, slowly weaving in theory as we go along. If I go too heavy on the theory too early, I start to see that glazed eye look as confusion sets in.
And my music theory is shit, so the dude is basically talking Greek to me. I'm sure over time it'll start to come back but at least my ear is still good (i.e. I know when I sound like a dying cat).
Indeed, I sure did. It seems easier than the last time I tried to learn a guitar, but I am having a real tough time reading tabs and playing what I read. I am getting a lot of things backwards
Yea, I saw the lesson thing, but wasn't sure if you had pulled the trigger on that particular instrument. Grats!
I most certainly did. My lessons are every Saturday.

baby can play a different guitar. Daddy just doesn't like Flying V guitars. Daddy would rather have a nice Charvel super strat with a maple neck!
Well in THAT case, trade up and be happy.
