The Shoutbox
"Zoom's software reported to Facebook whenever a Zoom user logged on for a conference call, a lawsuit filed Monday stated. After a user logged on, Zoom gave Facebook the person's customer information, including what device a person used to access Zoom, the device's model and the device's unique advertising identifier."

In other news, we might have passed the floor on Disney...
Plus, after big tech has spent years trying to make kids safer online, Zoom comes in and offers a product that has ZERO standards in place to protect kids. Corona has effectively given them free reign to operate in ways that Google/Facebook/Twitter/TikTok used to operate but were lamblasted for. We went from "protect your kids online...watch what they're doing" to "get your kids on Zoom so we can see what they're doing". Like no, I have zero patience for it.
I can go back and listen to old Daft Punk and it still sounds great. It's like classic rock in that sense, timeless.

I can go back and listen to Fat Boy Slim and think, what the F' was wrong with me. No amount of Christopher Walken can make that sound palatable.

What don't you like about Zoom? It's fairly straightforward and we're having no trouble using it for various board meetings, etc.
Zoom is a privacy and security nightmare. Zero encryption, caviler with user's data, and remedial authentication standards.

So add in the fact that the majority of Zoom meetings are being run by people who aren't exactly tech savvy and you get a breeding ground for trouble.

Plus, I don't appreciate how they have effectively strong armed every school/organization into using them. There are several different, and better, options on the market, especially for classroom instruction. Zoom actively targeted schools before they started closing, and places like us already had a product that we could have used at no additional cost. But because Zoom had bombarded our teachers with advertising they were all up in arms to use it, so we had to drop down more dough for something we were already equipped to do.

Nasty company with nasty tactics. I'll pass. I'm using it for my business advancement class because I have no choice, but I ain't ever making an account with them.

We did buy 100 shares of Carnival stock this past week.

I did a call with someone around MAR 15 or so, and I thought to myself "I bet this app will be huge. I should buy some shares." The stock was about 107 bucks at the time. I didn't pull the trigger. Whoops!

The fudge round may be more texture than taste, but it's bliss.
