Say what you will but Resident Evil is one of the most coherent franchises ever. I’ve only done it once but watching then from end to end is pretty awesome to behold. That alone makes me forgive a large portion of their missteps.
Yeah, it is pretty much a mix of all those classic spy and assassin tropes but the craftsmanship is key. Adaptations of games into movies (or vice versa) seem to imply that whoever's doing the adapting is free to coast on the brand and not make something authentically good (also the reductive idea of games as being purely about action to the point to the point where non-action games get turned into action movies, even if Resident Evil managed to be decent regardless).
Like legit, the use of disguises in Mission Impossible movies are just so brilliant I would have loved to see a Hitman movie utilise it in the same way 47 would in the games. It clearly can be done as seen in MI movies.

So what I really cared more about was the use of proper stealth in this particular scene that the actual Hitman movie lacks (with its uncharacteristic shootout every chance it gets). Even if not Abrams, if only writers would just learn from the Mission Impossible scene, I'm sure they could have made a better Hitman film.
Also, watching that scene also makes me want to see a crossover battle between Ethan Hunt and Agent 47 in a stealth-based battle, just for the fun of it.
