Absolutely. Even with things which do 'matter', politics for example.
Yeah, whole lot of recidivism with weight gain. I'm cautiously optimistic this time because my core eating habits have changed, and it's been almost a year. But it can be very hard make that stick.
Pizza Hut send me a promo email an hour before the football game. Devious.
The funny thing is, everybody has things they don't care much about, so you just transfer the logic over. Maybe you have a friend who's an audiophile, and they can't believe you don't prefer vinyl to CDs, or that you don't care about the acoustics in your apartment. Or someone who has high taste in food and can't imagine why you'd ever eat such-and-such. To you, the difference is too small to notice or care about. That's how most people feel about things like lightly-edited movies. Movies just aren't one of the things they care a lot about.

Quoted for truth.

Also, sometimes that's the version they've bought, so it's what they show regardless of the time.

I don't get why TV stations play movies... and edit the crap out of them. If it's not suitable for this time of day, don't show it at this time of day. It's almost false advertising. They say they're showing X... but they're technically not. It's like selling a car. But there's no wheels, chairs, seats, panels, engine or chassis.
It's a space station.
