lol. I threw it to the ditch. damn thing being top-heavy boomeranged back around at him. Instead of just moving he jumped straight up. Most of him made it over the bat's trajectory. Most of him. I will admit that it was a rage throw. He and another friend of mine, we all invented this weird game where ....hm. there must be context.

We were bored. We found a bag of crushed aluminum (I believe that's al-yew-mini-yum to you weirdos across the pond) cans in his garage for recycling, and three baseball bats. We invented a version of golf, pointing to a shrub and claiming par 3, then we each knocked our can with the bat until getting to the goal.

A few rounds of that was enough. But we found a half-deflated kick-ball way back in the yard, in the ditch behind his house. NEW GAME!

He guarded one side of the yard fence. Our friend guarded the other. I guarded the center. If one of them hit the ball (with bat) and got it past me AND the other friend, to the opposite fence, then he scored a point. If I managed to block from either direction, I scored a point. It was a great game for a while, then one of the kids found one of our flattened (and VERY sharp) cans from our rounds earlier. He smacked it with the bat and it buzzed me within a foot or two. The other kid saw how much that irritated me, so he hit the can back. Two or three volleys and I'm dodging for my life and getting pretty angry.

The one kid hit the projectile once more, but this time it made contact and sliced my knuckles. Enter yn-rage. I spun and slung the bat way the hell into the back lot (I thought), but it did actually curve some. Back in the direction of the "friend."

Cracked him right in the shin. lol. I'm PRETTY SURE I've told this story here though....
Wait. I'm on the board? What's a race announcer supposed to do in THAT case?!

incomplete or not, dat was a good reply.

I was in high school when I went to a friend's house one day. His dad was really into music and writing/recording. Their living room was kind of like a thrift store clutter of music gear, guitars, keyboards, mixing boards, etc. It was intense. Anyway, they kept referring to their D-A-T to record. I was crazy interested in learning the recording side of music but I just couldn't fish the definitions out of him or his dad.

I felt like an idiot for not just already knowing what they clearly seemed to think was common knowledge. Sadly, I didn't get into the recording side of things until maybe a decade or so later, when DAT evolved into DAW. I knew what THAT one meant, so I felt confident to jump in at that point. lol?

I'll be honest. I think this is the first time anyone has ever actually defined that for me!

That kid was the one that first put an electric guitar over my shoulder and taught me the intro to Metallica's Enter Sandman and what a power chord was. I had handled an acoustic before, but that was a very different experience. That was also the same kid I accidently hit in the shin with a baseball bat one Saturday afternoon. That's a story for another thread, if I haven't already shared it here.

I miss cassette tapes

I know plenty of people who wanted no how to behave if they weren't afraid of HR.
