But that's only my impression based on my peers.

Some people do make a mistake as to what they want to do in life, and change their major or profession. Sometimes multiple times. I'm not sure a gap year is going to mitigate this.

Oh, and thank you, Yoda's mum.
Everyone-going-to-college seems to be losing favor over here. It's no longer a given, which is a good thing. Four-year college degrees are ridiculously expensive and too many people were saddling themselves with college loan debt and then not even getting jobs in their fields anyway.

Me fail at English? That's unpossible!
My Engrish is purrfect. Oh, wait...

On your nerves, English is getting.
In a sentence, the order of words, do you ponder.
Just be like Yoda.

Or, that should be: Like Yoda, be like.

Yep, when I got to elementary school I could already read and write as well. Some kids couldn't. At all.

Primary school in the UK, as in, proper school and not pre-school or nursery, is ages 5-6.

I started proper school at 3 because I could read and write at 2 years old All the other kids were 5 and 6 years old.
I never went to nursery or pre-school at all.

Did my final exams at 14, left school at 15 and got a job
