Re quasi-realism: that’s the best way to explain why I don’t like his movies. Life is boring, so watching a movie pretty close to how life goes is like peak boredom.

I've seen and enjoyed a few of Allen's films (Manhattan, especially), but I'm not sure if I'll be able to return to it for a long time given his scandal. I'm normally able to put that stuff behind me when I watch films from controversial directors (Roman Polanski, for instance), but given that Manhattan is about Allen being in a romance with someone much younger than him (something which is eerily similar to what his real life scandal was about) makes it a much harder pill to swallow. I can see myself returning to Annie Hall in the future though.

Meant to say:
Just to name a few of his early films that I loved. Some people don’t get his films, and that’s fine.
