The Shoutbox
Basically, the house is still using the original 2 wires setup, and they just replaced all the outlets with 3 prongs without replacing the wiring. As with most house modifications it was done by idiots.
yeah, but electrical could be an issue. are there exposed wires or something? or you looking at an archaic glass fuse box that needs to be upgraded to a breaker box? still would be worth asking your agent about it. if they say no, it doesn't break the contract I don't think. inspection may list it anyway.
But I definitely learned today that it is not even close to my definition of "move in ready".
Like...I can sand and finish the floors myself. I can insulate the attic myself. There's a lot that I can do and want to do because I'll learn.
Inspector hasn't made the report yet, but when he does he is sending it to my agent and then I'll talk with her. I don't think there's much room to wiggle, tho. Not without losing the deal that is, and I really want this house. I'm just going to be up to my elbows in petty shit for a couple months before I actually move in.
Yeah if it's not in the disclosure before the offer, pretty standard to ask for the price to be shaved down to at least somewhat compensate.

We just got back from our inspection.
did that come from the home inspection? you might could leverage that to request the seller either lower the asking price or do the work before the sale is final. your agent have any opinions?
WELL, you're a funny person, you got that goin' for ya! Time to burglarize houses since you know so much about them now!
I got some attic insulating and electrical work in my future. Looks like I better sign up for paid YouTube.
