The Shoutbox
You’re using a named license which is different from a shared license. A shared license allows anyone within our organization (I.e. students) to use their login to authorize the program. We have to build a new package every time they change how the shared license system is setup.

That’d be too easy and we can’t have that.
I update my InDesign in place any time there's an update. Not sure what you're referring to, unless it's a different program in their suite.

THIS. Affinity is an Adobe killer if they keep up the work they are doing.
Affinity is pretty terrific. I got the whole suite at half price about a year-ish ago and love it. I had limited experience with a photo program or a graphics manipulation program, so I didn't have to UN-learn very much to use Photo or Designer. But their Publisher has been harder to get comfortable with because my years/decades of InDesign experience are getting in the way of me finding/adapting.

So I'm still subscribing to ID for now... I gotta just force myself to LEARN the Affinity version better so I can cut the cord.

I'm just an independent contractor who does typical things with PDF creators: scribbling on 'em, text boxes, highlighting, creating PDFs out of thin air. Nothing else. My old Acrobat Pro 9.0 was starting to show its age.

*are because I don't want to deal with editing it.

Yes, I agree the subscription crap was horrible for individuals and smaller businesses. Their pricing scheme assumes we update every 18 months minimum. We often went 2-4 years before upgrades in most of our apps. Now, we're bound to the subscription just for contract requirements that need the latest but as a single user it really is horrible. I do love the apps though =\
Oh, I love InDesign and I'm dragging my feet trying to learn the differences in Affinity's suite so I can cut the Adobe cord. ID is just so ingrained in how I think about layout now.

But yeah, even if it IS tax deductible, for me it's just over $20 a month for InDesign alone!

Ha! I don't make those mistakes, since I've been using InDesign and *full* Acrobat for a long time. I did just give up on Acrobat for Foxit PDF, though. I'm a fan of one-time purchases where I can get them without losing features I need.
