IIRC, the smilebox format was an extra feature on the disc versions, meaning you could choose either that or the regular letterboxed version. So if you have both, one of them has to look fine on an ultra-wide monitor, right?
And yeah some of those blu-rays were very limited pressings, so maybe they are OOP by now, but maybe you can still find a used copy on eBay or some thrift shop somewhere?
