The Shoutbox
"Perfect ... to me." It punches the right buttons for you. Doesn't mean it's objectively perfect. It's subjectively perfect.
I know what you're describing. It almost sounds like someone describing their spouse, where even the flaws can become a source of endearment.

"Perfect" might be a misleading word, but it's not too far off. In this context, I think it seems to mean "I wouldn't change anything about it."
Strummer, have you seen Remember The Titans? Do you remember when Julius made his speech at half time? He said "Now, I'm not saying I'm perfect, cuz I'm not. Nobody is. But this team is perfect."

It's the same thing. If all the parts are good enough, then the movie can be perfect.

EXP: There could be a sad scene in a movie and the actor may have done a good job, but not a perfect job. If the soundtrack is also really good, then it can cover what slight lapses there are in the acting.
perfect movies? you've all gone mad!

everyone knows the only perfect movie their is, is LOTR: The Two Towers

(just kiddin'!)
But if there is any problem in any aspect, then technically it's not perfect. Perfection implies the complete absence of flaws.
Not every aspect has to be perfect. The individual parts have to be good enough to where as a unit, they are perfect.
I don't think I've ever seen a movie that I thought was perfect. In fact I'm not sure I believe it's possible for something to be perfect.
A List Of Perfect Movies IMO
Braveheart
American History X
L.A. Confidential
City of God

That's all I can think of right now, in terms of "Perfect"
If that's all it takes I'm surprised that anything has gotten into your top 100.
I don't like junk. Every single aspect of a movie has to be right for me to like it.

Clerks? I didn't like it. It was funny, but the acting and other things were awful. Everything has to be right for me to like it.
You shouldn't put films you think are "Just Ok" on a top 100. I'd wait until you've seen 100 you truly love. Otherwise you'll just wanna change your list anyway. And who wants to read a list of 100 halfway-decent movies anyway?

Out of curiousity...what do you mean by movie purist.
