The Shoutbox
In other news, I had a successful second date tonight. It was with the girl from about a month ago. Yea, took a while to hang out again but, it was worth the wait.
It is midday here nice new avatar Spudly
John, I'm with you on this, they should call it UNcommon sense.
Yes, I agree.
Chris I knew you were bad about checking your messages, but you seem to be running a little bit slower than usual tonight.
Ahhh...new ting new ting. I was looking at John's avatar thinking hey he changed it, not even realizing that the avatar's are now showing in the shoutbox. I'm quick.
This is about as much fun as watching paint dry
Sedai, I'm with you on that. I don't need to go to school and get a fancy little piece of paper to tell myself I'm educated, I think I've done pretty good for myself over the last few years. I've got enough knowledge and experience that once I get out of the Navy I'll have no problem finding a job that I can do.

John, I'm with you on this, they should call it UNcommon sense. Take for instance today, I had to go to Walmart to get a filter for my air conditioner, while walking through the parking lot, there was this truck backing out and the moron left the shopping cart right behind his truck. A smart, or "educated" person might think to get out and move the cart once you start hearing that metal on metal grinding, but no, he kept going and practically pushed the cart away in the process of backing out and turning to exit the lot. Now that sounds more like common sense, and those who would think to get out and move the cart are probably more like to have UNcommon sense. *end of rant*
If they call it common sense, why isn't it so common? Hmm?
I never went to college, and I consider myself pretty well educated.
If the education conversation is still going on, I would have to say that when someone says educated, the first thing a lot of people think of, is that they've graduated from college.

One can have all the college they could ever afford, and still lack common sense.
Well, education is a characteristic, but it sounded like you were asking which other characteristics lead to it. Unless I misunderstood.

Assuming I didn't, I'd say inquisitiveness would come first. A general curiousity about the world is usually a prerequisite for anyone who wants to become well-educated. Also, ambition. Curious or not, education enhances your likelihood of success, so an ambitious person is probably more likely to be an educated person.
