Yeah, it's actually only the first 1/4 of the game.

And yes, going backwards from 8 to 7 is jarring, but going from 7 to 8 was "HOLY ******* ****"
The only issue with FF7 was the character graphics coming out of FF8, first. I had a hard time relating to the short, squatty characters in 7 by that point and it really turned me off =*(

A lot of friends loved that game though. I was excited to try the recent remake, but when I learned it was only like half the game I just couldn't pull the trigger. Unless I was mistaken?
And yeah, as good as the PS2 is the Genesis really was and is still my favorite console. Those 16-bit sprites. Refreshing!

I mean, Insomniac Games went from making a kiddie game about a purple dragon to a FPS about an alternate WW2 timeline. How many studios can say "we built the foundation and the house sitting on it"?
The materia system was the greatest system ever created. But the best game on PS1 was either Medieval or Spyro. You know this and I know this so why the hate for FF7? What it ever do to you, dd?!
Oh. And Moonwalker. Duh.
Genesis, though, for my top console. That system design was so sleek, black, and curvy. The controller was PERFECT. Like a cool, crisp Laser Tag gun in hand, and not that crap knock-off Photon mess. OMG the first time I played Last Battle, with the characters 1/3 of the screen.... I could SQUASH that lil Mario bug without thinking. soooooooo coooooool. I pretended I was Van Damme in Cyborg!!!! That music was so badass.

NES was the system all the kids flocked to the only family's house that could afford one. Sega Genesis IS my youth. I still play Phantasy Star II and Last Battle. And Shinobi II. And Alex Kidd in Miracle World.

PS1 was a game changer (*cough*). Final Fantasy XIII was my intro. Sorry, but never could go back to restart with FF7 after that. That and Soul Reaver were my games. I never picked up the PS2 as I had no time and figured I was just outgrowing games, then MWII on the PS3 changed that right up. I've been stuck in the PSN ever since.
Enough with the FF VII already! We get it. One game does not a system make 🤓
SNES and PS2 easy for me. PS2 was clearly the golden age of gaming king, so must agree it is probably the easy winner here.
I honestly don't see that console ever getting dethroned from it's position as best-selling console.
