I'm a Pirates fan. I'm far better at outright despair.

Regardless, as a wise sports columnist once put it, rooting for the Yankees is like rooting for the house in blackjack.
Yes, it clear things up alright.

Keep clinging. It's what Red Sox fans do.
Somehow, against all odds and possibly the laws of physics, you managed to miss the point.

The Braves team of 1996 won 4 more regular games than the New York that year. This New York team won 3 more regular season games than Boston. Moreover, the two Atlanta wins were tremendously more lopsided (12-1 and 4-0), and ALSO both on the road.

Or, in other words: worse teams, further down, and in higher-stakes situations, have come back. I hope this clears things up.
Yeah.

So, if the Red Sox can come back like the '96 Yankees against the 2004 Yankees, I guess they do have a shot.

Are Petitte, Key, Cone and Leyritz signing contracts or jumping into time machines I don't know about?
I recall a certain New York-based baseball club losing two games at the start of the 1996 World Series, yet taking the series 4-2.

Regardless, it pretty much all comes down to Schilling. Curt is to Dumbledore as the Yankees are to Voldemort.
Yup, this is the Red Sox's year alright.

Well, not for winning the AL Championship or World Series...but their year for something or another.
