Pulling off the freeway I was still talking to my girlfriend. The light was red. I stopped. To the left of the car I was waiting in a homeless man was standing with a sign. I don't recall as to what it said. My first thoughts.
The sticker displaying the amount of time I was able to park downtown was blocking his face from my view. Good. The window was cracked, should I roll it up? No. I am on a cell phone. Should I feel grateful? Yes. But, do I? No. Should I try to? Yes. Will I? No. I told my girlfriend about the homeless man outside my window. "I hate this situation." Funny. Implying it happens all the time. It doesn't. If it did, maybe things would be different.
"Excuse me, Sir?"
I sifted 60 cents out of the ashtray. He took it.
"God bless you."
