Bump.
That's not a valid argument, there are plenty of quality american shows that don't put the U.S. at the center of the universe
Sure, there are some. But most aren't. And there certainly aren't enough to justify disgust simply because an American show happens to be about America.

you know , whenever the world is at threat, it's usually directed at america first, when the aliens decided to land, they chose america and that kind of stuff.
Who is "they"? In films like Independence Day and Signs, we're shown international locations, as well. They just follow American characters. Are you disgusted that every Japanese Godzilla film is set in and focused on Japan?

Plus, I'm sorry, but I get a vomit-inducing reflex whenever I see american patriotism on the telly.
Yes, I know. That's my point: that your dislike for "American patriotism" in general is causing you to find fault with 24 without any real reason.
Ohhh, let it go. It's fun. It's hilariously, ridiculously, outrageously insane. My thread here on "24" (the older thread) kinda gives my list of what irks me about the show.

But lack of suspense ain't it.

FWIW, I solved my dilemma with Netflix and spoilers for tomorrow: I broke down and bought Season 5 at Walmart this afternoon. Now I have to squeeze in 15 episodes by tomorrow night!

ACK! BYE! Gotta go!

And yes, it's the same every season, I realize that. But it's FUN. It's a phenomenon. I have fun with it! And I'm determined to watch it in "real time" this time like everyone else and not on DVD a year later!
It's an American show. What did you expect? Episodes exploring the nuances of Chinese subcultures?

Man, I had an eventful day. First I went to BAM, then Wendy's, then I saw Children of Men for the second time, then we went to FYE, EB Games, Waldenbooks, Best Buy, and finally, Chick-fa-la. I'm tired.
it's crap because it's classically and rediculously americo-centric.

The difference is that this show is supposed to be about suspene.

Oh, and you'd also think that after the 4th time he's proven them wrong, people would stop thinking he was aterrorist.
Oh and I forgot to mention he does all this in one day...every time...in....one...day...24 thrilling hours.....that make 24 shows...which is why it's called...24.
24 isn't Garbage because Bauer survives every season, it's garbage because it's about a guy that singlehandedly saves the entire freakin planet ( each season, wow, who knew life could be so exciting ), it's crap because it's classically and rediculously americo-centric.
Season 2 was SO good. 3 had some rough dialouge, but was pretty good, nonetheless. Really, though, knowing a main character makes it through a situation applies to pretty much every show on tv... otherwise there couldn't be a show, eh?
Do you not like the Indiana Jones or James Bond flicks for the same reason?
