One thing is for sure. This ridiculous new scoring system that they are using to score Gymnastics has certainly worked out pretty well for the Chinese.

Neither the male or female team has ever won the gold medal and now this year they just happen to have a brand new scoring system that no one really understands or can even remotely explain. Other than to say: "Well even though the gymnast just fell on his ass his degree of difficulty was extremely high, so he's sure to get at least a 15.5."

So Gold medals for both the men and womens teams and next Olympics we'll have another system. Still trying to understand what was wrong with the original system that has been in place for as long as I can remember. I miss the opportunity to see someone try and get a perfect 10.
Ah, yes. That is indeed what I meant. Meanwhile, home girl blasted the discus last night, destroying the top competition.
You mean NBC "Live" where it was live yesterday when they taped it and then are showing it to you here in the states "Live" almost 24 hours later?
I hated that event. I couldn't make it through more than a couple of minutes.

I am a bit weary of the Olympics, at this point, actually. I forgot to start buffering the broadcast on my DVR and I tried to watch it live last night; there are so many commercials that, to me, it's pretty much unwatchable.
Okay time for another useless Olympic sport update.

As a child I had a little ball. It was about 2 inches in diameter and it was made out of blue rubber. Me and my friends would occasionally play a game against a cement wall called: Handball.

Today I see in the Olympics that not only do they have a game called Handball but it is not even remotely like the game that I remember from my childhood.

In this game a bunch of people stand around and toss a ball back and forth to each other and have to try and throw it into a goal that looks like a Hockey goal net to score points.

This is quite possibly the stupidest made up game I have ever seen. Who plays this? And more importantly, why would you?
That is pretty cool that you were able to see the old stadium one more time right before they close it. Did you pry anything off of the wall somewhere for a souvenir?

I think I would love New York. I know I would love the food. It has been mentioned to me more than once that I would "fit right in there", not sure if that's supposed to be a compliment or not.
I forgot to test this earlier, but it took all of 20 - 30 seonds to confirm that it was the You-tube video that stopped him from making his post. It does consider it a link. We both assumed it to be so, but I like confirming things.
All in all, a nice damn trip.
And I did get to the MoMA. I like the new digs OK, though I'm certainly not used to it after my initial visit.

And some good damn food, and I got to have dinner with a friend I haven't seen since I moved to the West Coast, and I got to hang out with my little brother and Dad for a couple days.
Back from NYC. It was fun, if too short a trip. Very sunny and hot, but not unbearable for the games (and better than the 100 degree days I left in Portland). Yankees won both games. The first one, Saturday, was very frustrating and the NYY offense was damn inept, but even though they didn't deserve it they managed to win in the thirteenth inning. Sunday was more fun, four home runs in the game including a three run blast by A-Rod and a grand slam for Giambi - they scored ten runs in the first two innings on way to an easy win.

It was good to say goodbye to the Stadium with a couple wins, even if their post season chances get dimmer and dimmer every day. But they do have six games apiece left with Boston and Tampa, so if they win just about all of those (a tall order, to be sure) they still have at least a mathematical shot at the wild card spot. But they're gonna have to play a HELL of a lot better then they did the last road trip.
I know I've made beer bread before. One can of beer in it, but these just don't sound right.

Beer And Beef Soup, Beer And Cheese Potato Chowder, and Beer Cheese Soup.

I am trying to find some new soup recipes. These won't do.
