Some of what you describe reminds me of a very good film called Alien Raiders (2008). Check it out, even if it's not the movie you're looking for it's worth a watch.

I haven't John Wick yet. Everyone tells me it's great and I am a Keanu Reeves fan but something about this movie just doesn't appeal to me. The trailer anyway, didn't entice me to want to see this.
