Re: The Andrea Riseborough nomination "controversy"

I initially thought that Frances Fisher's tweet was the major infraction people are criticizing, but it seems like it may be broader than that. Can anyone who is following this let me know, what...

Re: The Andrea Riseborough nomination "controversy"

Holden is absolutely right on this. There are always performances that many feel are worthy that are not nominated. I've only seen two of the nominated performances, Blanchett's and Williams', so I...

Corax, I think I understand looks and repetition, but what do you mean by the actor fitting cultural standards? In our current time, what do you think the cultural standards are that an actor has to...

Re: What makes someone an excellent actor or actress?

It seems like for some, versatility is one of the hallmarks of an excellent actor, while for others, it may not be as important. It also sounds like another key component is that you believe them as...

I will reserve judgment on this case until it is presented at trial. It is very possible that more may come up that may not be publicly known right now that will make a guilty verdict more likely....

Re: Alec Baldwin accidentally kills crew member with prop gun

I actually find this to be pretty surprising. I totally agree that Baldwin is civilly liable, especially in his role as a producer, and that he's morally culpable, but criminal prosecution for...

Discussion Question: Why on Earth did they pay Rian Johnson, the director, $400 million to make two more movies in this series? Who has thoughts on that? I know the first movie was very commercially...

I saw this recently. I thought that it was decent, but nowhere near as good as the first film. To me, the first film had a much more interesting story, which flowed better, and which was more...

I agree with Yoda. Who they choose depends on their vision for the character and the type of character they'd like Bond to be in the next iteration of the series. I would have liked to see Idris Elba...

Hey everyone. I like "Yellowstone." I think 1883 is actually a better show though. It has a poignancy that I think Yellowstone lacks, the acting is in my opinion better, as its much more real and...

Re: Babylon (Damien Chazelle, 2023)

I'm definitely an admirer of Chazelle. I loved "La La Land" and also quite liked "Whiplash", and to a lesser extent "First Man". However, I genuinely don't think this looks good at all.
