I think they also have a tendency to use certain camera movements / scoring stuff at the end of episodes to give it the effect of being momentous and important. It's likely we wont see old blue dude...

It's hard to feel a sense of panic and/or urgency in a film when your main character is Brad Pitt and as a viewer you already know that absolutely nothing bad is going to happen to him or his family....
