Re: The MoFo Top 100 of the 1970s: Countdown

Finally got round to watching The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes (1970). I think it would probably have made my list, had I seen it in time.

Re: The MoFo Top 100 of the 1970s: Countdown

Taxi Driver was my #17. It's a really well made film, Scorsese's best, in my opinion. I certainly don't identify with Travis Bickle, he's not the hero here, there are no heroes in this film, only...

Re: The MoFo Top 100 of the 1970s: Countdown

I had Star Wars at #2. I love the whole trilogy and have watched all of them many many times and I don't get tired of them. I've introduced my kids to them (in the correct order, starting with...

Re: The MoFo Top 100 of the 1970s: Countdown

Alien was my number #14. The first time I saw the trilogy I felt it was a little bit too far on the horror side of sci-fi for my tastes, but on repeat viewings I could appreciate it more. A really...

I thought Chinatown was well made but I didn't instantly love it. I particularly disliked the slapping scene. I do think it would probably be worth watching again to appreciate some of these aspects...

This is possible. I might be willing to give it another shot one day. But having seen it once I don't like it either.

My major problems with the film are it not being as good as the book and the...

Re: The MoFo Top 100 of the 1970s: Countdown

The Godfather Part II was #9 on my list. For a while it was my favourite of the Godfather films, but I think now the first film just edges it out, as I think the story is more focused. It's hard to...
