I found it! In the back room! I had long ago bought a boxed set of Humphrey Bogart's movies which included both version of The Big Sleep. The funny thing is it was in a box to give to the Goodwill.

I'm desperate to find the 1945 pre-release version of The Big Sleep. It's on the Warner Archives DVD of The Big Sleep so a link must be out there somewhere?

You could also add a .srt sub file to a movie using certain video players like VLC, if you can't find it with the subs already there.
