Just went to The Huntington in Los Angeles, combination gallery/Japanese garden/general botanical grounds. Lovely stuff, will try to remember to post some of the better pictures I took soon.

The best museum I've ever been to was one of medieval torture devices.

I gotta say medieval BDSM was a little on the rough side.

Yes---as much as I can. The best I have been to was the Norton Simon Museum. https://www.nortonsimon.org/

I regret to this day not going to the traveling exhibit of torture devices when it came through my local anthropology museum.

You can make up for it by watching some BDSM porn. Not the same thing, though.

I'll probably just stick with reading Sade and the intro chapter to Discipline and Punish for the time being.

We had the pleasure of visiting the Alte Nationalgalerie at Museum Island in Berlin 2 summers ago. I love impressionistic paintings, and they have some Manet, Monet, Cezanne, Renoir and Degas. It was a thrill to see the live paintings, although I always imagine them larger than they are, which likely comes from viewing online prints.

There's a pretty good art museum in New Orleans in City Park, although it's been years since I've been over there. About due for a return.

Years ago when living in NYC it was great to go to the Guggenheim, MMA, and others.

Are you interested in Art Museums/Galleries?
Sometimes. If I ever travel somewhere besides the Northeast part of North America, I would be very interested, especially Europe. But as it is I am not interested in going to any near where I live.
Do you visit them? I used to. But over-familiarity has left me with a strong case of ennui.
Which notable galleries have you visited?
The Philadelphia Museum of Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Rodin Museum in Philadelphia among other lesser known places.
Do you buy albums with reproductions from these museums?

Nope. I generally buy them online or just peruse the internet. The last books I bought were of paintings by Paul Klee and Kandinsky.

Here are some photos of my favorite rooms in the Philadelphia Art Museum. I love walking into a place that looks like a life size diorama.

Can you specify which is this museum and locality?

We were there about ten years ago. The Museum Island in Berlin with all these museums is a global level spot.

LOVE museums! Haven't been to too many art galleries. If I had to pick one, it would be Woolaroc in Bartlesville, OK. This is the private collection of oil baron Frank Phillips. Arguably the finest collection of "Indian" art, in the world.

Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna

One of the major spots in the field. Twelve years ago, we were in Vienna for whole week and spent one of these days entirely in and around this museum.
Paintings with cult status by Pieter Bruegel the Elder, Caravaggio, Vermeer and Raphael can be found here among many others. There are also rich collections of items from the Ancient Times - Egyptian, Roman Empire, Greeks etc.

Yes, the legendary The Tower of Babel by Bruegel and Vermeer's The Painter in his Studio are here.

I love my local art museum, the High Museum of Art. One of my favorite exhibits was Rings, which occurred during the '96 Olympics. The possibly The Scream-inspired painting Between the Lines by Cuban painter Antonia Eiriz was in it, which had a big impact on me. It may still be my favorite painting. You can see and read about it and the artist here.

I was also lucky enough to see an exhibit by Yayoi Kusama there, who's famous for making mirrored installations like this one:

The museum is a work of art in and of itself. It was used as the prison in Manhunter, by the way. Remember this scene?

MOMA was the first museum I got to like when I emigrated to NYC.
