Suzanne Shepherd, who played Edie Falco's mother on The Sopranos and Lorraine Bracco's mother in Goodfellas passed away yesterday. She was 89. |
Re: Suzanne Shepherd, RIP
She was very good as Carmela’s snobbish mother.

Re: Suzanne Shepherd, RIP
I remember Carmella accusing her mother of saying, when Meadow was born... "Oh, she's so... dark."
For those unfamiliar, this was because Carmella accused her mother of being ashamed of their Italian heritage and spending a lifetime trying to cover it up (with quotes like "telling Aunt Rose you were glad DeAngelis didn't end in a vowel.") Suzanne Shepherd stood out in the Sopranos episode where this all came to a head - which I believe was the big family barbeque episode (the title of which I don't remember). |

I still remember her as Mrs. Hoargarth in Uncle Buck. Her reaction when Buck tells her off is priceless. RIP.
