1) let us know what it was? This is customary to do before people ask so they don't expend effort on something that's no longer needed, anyway.

2) mark the thread as "Answered"?

Ah yes, thank you. I think my brain thought that was a username or way of addressing someone, since normally you'd use a colon there rather than a comma.

I'm just gonna mark it Answered myself, then, he sighed, finally accepting that people will never ever ever do that part.

Now I’m confused since this recently came up. I thought only you could mark it as answered?

Thread creators can mark Answered in addition to mods.

I'd say they do it less than 10% of the time, though.

There's a button/link that changes the thread prefix (which is distinct from the title, programmatically).
