Is there any way to translate foreign films not in English?
There are quite a few I want to see, but it's not possible to find an English language or English subtitled copy around for a lot of them. Any thoughts on this? Someone told me there was an app to do it, but didn't know what it was called, but is that app any good if there is any?

I watch a lot of foreign films, and I usually just learn the language beforehand.

I'm far tooooo lazy for that, I simply change the au-pair to one that speaks both English and the language of the fillum I'm intending to watch and they then translate the film for me whilst feeding me grapes topless (I honestly have no idea why I find the tops of grapes so distasteful but I always have). Sometimes I even pretend I can't understand English and do the same. If it helps at all we exclusively use the Au Mai Wotterpair agency. |
Re: Is there any way to translate foreign films not in English?
Serious answer:
Tell me the names of the films in question and I will see what I can do. I have an access to subtitles to many obscure films. However, many non-English language films still do not have English subtitles, and quite literally the only way for them to appear is to convince somebody who speaks both languages to make them. A rough way and possibility in case you have subtitles in any other language that fit the film is to use Google Translate to translate those to English (don't do it manually, upload the entire file at once!). The effect might be far from perfect, but they should be understandable enough. |

Or you can just learn the language, you schmuck!
Yes, all of them. |

I read this thread from the last post first, starting with your topless quote down there. I totally imagined the top half of your grapes being peeled back. Then I read your actual post commentary and smiled. I think the chypmunk must be my forum spirit animal. |

I tried using google translate, but when I plug a mic into my computer, and put the mic up to the speaker so it can record the dialogue spoken in the movie, google translate cannot pick it up. I've done tests. Google translate can recognize my own voice when I speak into it, and it can transcribe what I say into words. But when I select a movie's language on google translate, and put the mic to the speaker to record the movie's dialogue, nothing picks up on google translate. |

I tried to help Ironpony subtitle episodes of a Peruvian Softcore Porn show behind the scenes a few days ago. Definitely my proudest moment here even though we failed.

Yeah I gave up on that one and now trying to translate other movies. However, if there is no SRT files, and I have to use an online translator, how do you get an online translator to actually recognize the dialogue and transcribe it?

No clue mate, sorry.

How the world has changed. Back in my day you neither needed nor cared about subtitles for softcore porn :D
