Jack and the Witches

Back when I was a kid I saw an animated movie on TV. My recollection is that the title was "Jack and the Witches." I'm guessing this would have been a time frame of around 1968-1971 or thereabouts. I saw the movie only once. It was an independent movie-length show and not an episode in any TV series. It appeared on broadcast TV (either ABC, NBC, or CBS, I don't know which).

I remember little about the plot. It was typical fare for that genre. A human boy (Jack) is kidnapped by some witches, one of whom is a younger girl. At one point Jack makes an escape but is recaptured. Jack eventually defeats the witches, at which time the younger witch is found to be, not a witch, but another human captive who was under a spell, and the spell is broken when the witches are defeated.

When I do a Google search, I get hits for a modern Japanese animated movie called "Jack and the Witch." This is not the flick I'm looking for. The IMDB does not yield results either. I found The Animated Movie Guide, part 1, which supposedly lists all the animated movies made up through 1980, but no listing for the flick I'm looking for.

So, I appeal to the collective experience of this forum. Let me know if you recall anything relevant. Thanks.

Are you sure it isn't Jack and the Witch? The plot sounds the same, it was dubbed into English and shown on KTLA (Channel 5) perennially on Halloween around your time frame.

That must be it. I didn't read the description of this movie because I thought it was a modern Japanese flick. But the description seems to coincide with my vague recollections, and the year lines up with the time frame. So consider this question solved. Thanks!

That's good. I'm the one that helped you two years ago with The Bedford Incident.
