Career Killers
Can anyone give an example of a performance that was so bad it was a career killer? Sometimes its bad enough to kill a career, but it doesnt. Sometimes it has nothing to do with a performance, but what theyve said or done.
I honestly wondered while watching The Happening if this film would kill Mark Wahlbergs career, and I think Mark was wondering that too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhmEo-46vUQ Between the Daredevil movie and being attached to the Jennifer Lopez red carpet brigade, Ben Afflecks career was almost killed completely. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7r9Eq0wqFR0 |

Ryan O'Neal was a hot commodity until Oliver's Story, the disastrous sequel to the hit Love Story.
Burt Reynolds at one time might have been the biggest movie star in the world. He was already on a slight downturn, but when he paired with Clint Eastwood on the huge flop City Heat, that was pretty much the end. He would get a comeback role in Boogie Nights. Stating Alive, the awful sequel to Saturday Night Fever, was the beginning of the end for John Travolta. He would then make one of the greatest comebacks thanks to Quentin Tarantino and Pulp Fiction. |
Re: Career Killers
Batman and Robin for Alicia Silverstone.

Re: Career Killers
Sean Young's attempt to get a role in Batman Returns destroyed her respectability and her career completely.
Brigitte Nielsen's divorce to Stallone in 87 wrecked her acting career entirely. Mike Myers in The Love Guru. All he's really done since is Shrek spin offs. |

Also, I love when Mark Wahlberg talked to the plant. I thought it was funny. I'm goofy that way. :p |

She was an unknown anyway, but back in the 90s, Maria Ford was the biggest B movie actress.
In 1998, she agreed to be one of the main contributors to a documentary about the B movie industry called Some Nudity Required and she basically slagged off everyone she had worked with, which was quite sad to watch because she seemed almost traumatised. Anyway, no one would touch her with a barge pole after this was released, and she didn't have the ability to shift into A movies. Apparently she was in talks to appear in Grindhouse but she got a lot of plastic surgery and she looks awful now so that never materialised into anything  |
