Mentors in Boogie Nights and Goodfellas
 

I've just re-watched both of these fantastic films and it got me thinking how Jack in BG and Jimmy and Paulie in GF are the mentors to the main characters, is there a common theme between the fact both films employ father figure characters? They both turn against their mentor? etc.
