Chronological... Or Release Date Order?

What order do you put your movies sets in on your shelf, when the movies in that set weren't released in Chronological Order? Like, Star Wars 1-6, Indiana Jones foursome, the Alien films etc etc.

Chronologically or in release order? Or does it depend on the franchise?

I go chronologically on all of my collection.

Example:
1. Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom
2. Indiana Jones And The Raiders Of The Lost Ark
3. Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade
4. Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull

1. Prometheus
2. Alien
3. Aliens
4. Alien 3
5. Alien: Resurrection

Though some people might put Alien 1-4 in order and have Prometheus at the bottom, even though Prometheus is based first... but have Star Wars 1-6 chronologically.
For a long time I had Indiana Jones in order of Release rather than Chronologically... but my recent shufty round of my livingroom I reorganised them.

Big pressing question of high importance... How do you do yours?

I go by release date, so for me Prometheus comes after my Alien anthology set.

So, do you have Star Wars IV, V, VI first, then I, II, III underneath?

I go chronological for the most part. The Hobbit movies are before LOTR and Star Wars prequels before the original trilogy. A few of the series I don't care about (Friday the 13th, Underworld) So I just put them by release date.

I never thought about this before now, but I guess it depends on the series.

I have the Star Wars movies on the shelf from I - VI, followed by a bunch of "Making of" and other misc Star Wars DVDs.

I have the Indiana Jones DVDs and the Star Trek DVDs in release order.

Since most of my movies were put away (or not) by someone else, it doesn't matter - they could be in one of five different rooms!

Most of my single movie DVDs are like that. They get put wherever I can find a spot for them, so they can be on any one of 7 different DVD racks in any of 4 different rooms.

I started out by trying to alphabetize the movies within categories, so some shelves are strictly musicals, or strictly Disney, or strictly classics, etc., but as soon as the shelves filled up, that plan went right out the window.

If I had them in my collection, then yes.

Put things in order? What is this... A girly thread? I put my movies haphazardly all over the place like any normal guy would. :p

Re: Chronological... Or Release Date Order?

It depends on the series and how much I care about it. The ones that I care about were all released in chronological order anyway, with the exception of the LOR and Hobbit movies. If I had the Hobbit movies on a format that wasn't digital they would be placed on the shelf before LOR.

You see im the opposite. I watch in chronological order.

Can't wait till I get around to finishing off the Hobbit series so i can get stuck into LOTR.

In my room right now there is a pile of video games with a few movies mixed in, and there's a stack of random movies on a bin, and the rest are in bins or at either my brother's place or my mom's from a few years ago when I had to store most of my things there. Oh and there's a few movies on the floor here and there.

I need to clean my room...

Neither. All my movies are alphabetical.

So like, Alien 1-4 are in A and Prometheus is in P?

LOTR are in L and Hobbits are in H?

I'd have a conniption if mine were like that.

Yes. And  nah not me. I'm more of a neat freak and a perfectionist so I prefer it that way.

I got mine alphabetically depending on the series.

Alien 1-4 is in a with Prometheus being the anomaly. LOTR in L with Hobbit film on top of the pile.
