Pretty to look at, but I found the character of Amelie to be more creepy than endearing.

Visually pretty and inventive, but it's a little bit too quirky and "bittersweet" for my personal taste.

It's a little bit too "thin" content-wise to be called a masterpiece, in my opinion. If something "clicks", it clicks, though, and this seems to be one of those films that is able to have a great effect on many people, so it deserves credit for that.
For me it was just a visually entertaining and enjoying experience, though. The characters weren't really that appealing to me and beside the fact that I found it beautiful to look at, it didn't really do that much to me narrative-wise.
I can certainly see why certain people love it so much, but I guess it's not really for me.
