Short films
 

What is your stance on short films? I think they are an art on their own, because they have to tell a story in a much shorter time.

I love a really well-done short film, but a lot of the short films out there are garbage. I guess you could say the same thing about feature-length films though. If you like shorts you should check out this site, they have a new one every week and lots of variety.
(sorry can't post the link because I have under 25 posts the site is called Short of the Week).

Post it without http or www bit or put a space before the dots.

Anyway, Skepsis actually did a short film tournament last year - http://www.movieforums.com/community...ad.php?t=32142 - and I ended up watching all 32 of them, some great stuff there for you guys that missed it.

Shorts are a totally different ball game. In some cases they are really great, you really get to focus on a singular thing in a short. and you know the people who made the short do it strictly for the love of film making because shorts dont really make a lot of money.

Shorts are a more pure form of the art. Brevity is an art.

Though at first glance, short films may be seen to be inferior due to their length, when done right, short films are a stunning art form. Having made short films myself, i understand how very difficult it is to say everything that you want to say in such a short space of time. Where feature length films are sometimes afforded the luxury of long passages of dialogue to explain what is going on, short films have to rely on expert visual storytelling to get the same message across.

I love watching short films. Sometimes find good ones on Youtube but you have to sift through the shite so I tend to watch awarded ones. Six Shooter by Martin McDonagh is a gooden.
