Has this been commented on yet? Just saw it, and I must say I disagree with many of the reviews I've seen. They call the film incomprehensible and complain about DePalma's empty technique. On the contrary, the film is as lucid as can be. Several things happen that don't make sense, but eventually you find out why. And after the dazzling opening sequence, I actually wasn't all that aware of DePalma's technique.

Overall I wouldn't say it ranks with his finest work, but definitely his best since "Carlito's Way."

I watched this purely because its a De Palma film and man did I get one.

The casting is really a clue to take it all with a grain of salt. Rebecca Ramjon and Antonio are not exactly great thespians, but man there fun to watch in this. Hamming it up throughout and obviously having a good time. Shame Peter Coyote does not receive more screen time.

With an opening to rival Dressed to Kill in the memorable raunchy stakes the film oozes stylized Euro sexuality. The script does contain a few cringe moments but they are easily forgotten, as you marvel at DePalma's high concept camera tricks and understanding of the art of cinema to tell a story and engage.

Sure its got faults, sure its pretentious but if your a DePalma fan you will find this a bold little heist film with as usual an epic vision by its director that is not quite met, but comes mighty close.

i liked the semi-porn dance scene with Rebecca, but the movie as a whole was very forgetable...i don't rate it

The movie is great, fantastic...simply awesome..
I also think the soundtrack is superb...I have been looking for it's soundtrack for quite a long time but seems like it's no where to find...can any1 PLEASE PLEASE tell me the name the of the song where at the sailor's club Rebecca is doing a striptease to make Antonio jealous...it's a techno song in the background...I am dying to find out about this song...any help will be highly appreciate...

Kong thought it was stupid. Of course, it is supposed to be kinda dumb (like a Charlie's Angels for the art-house crowd), but it just didn't work for Kong.

I don't think it's anything like Charlie's Angels - De Palma knows exactly what he's doing when he manipulates the audience, and he knows that the audience knows (if that makes any sense.) And nobody alive can compose a set-piece like he can - Christ, did you even watch the opening heist scene? It's a work of beauty, and the purest filmmaking of last year. In my opinion, of course. :)

It's just ludicrous. Then again, it's supposed to be, and Kong can see how people would be entertained by it, but it just isn't up Kong's alley.

Kong didn't mean it's exactly like Charlie's Angels, but rather that they share a similar spirit. Both are meant to be entertaining and neither are too serious about their subjects.
