Favorite Science Fiction Shoot em ups

I was wondering what are some of your favorite/guilty pleasure sci fi shoot em ups in the same vain of: Serenity, Aliens, Starship Troopers, Equilibrium, Screamers, Doom, Resident Evil.

I searched around for 'Science Fiction' around MoFo and found a great list of sci fi's (Moon, Solaris, 2001: Space Odyssey and many more), but I'm looking for more of a space pirate/marine vs alien(s) on a space ship/distant planet kind of fluff movie.

So, I was just curious to see what are some of your favorites and if you have any recommendations. Thanks!

This may skew slightly from the criteria but it fits the title.

The Last Starfighter (1984)

Here's the trailer:

They don't give away much of the actual space bits/battles in the trailer, but trust me, they are there and they are awesome :)

'The Last Star Fighter' looks neat. I love film making from the 80's and totally forgot about this film. I watched it when I was a little kid, but it was so long ago I don't remember a thing about it.

'Serenity' is one of my favorites. I've been meaning to pick up the 'Firefly' series but always seem to skip over it.

Glad I could help :) I never get sick of watching it. Serenity or Firefly as well!

I would say it's Equilibrium because I loved all that Gun Kata stuff at the time. It was very different and not really Matrix-like even though you could compare the look of the costumes to it to some extent.

And Doom's good as well, mainly because it becomes a shoot-em-up in various sequences. And Rosamund Pike looks damn fine into the bargain :).
