Quiz-making guidelines
 

I'm not an expert of any kind but some of the MoFos talked about creating quizzes yesterday, so I figured I would chime in with a few tips and guidelines.

- Quizzes on MoFo are usually 10 questions with 4 possible answers each.

- Watch the movie while you create the quiz. That way you can write down questions, which are in chronological order with the plot, without having to go back and edit the order of the questions.

- If you're having trouble coming up with the last question you can always make a 'complete this quote' question. Just make sure the quote is fairly memorable.

- Questions doesn't necessarily have to revolve around the plot, but can also deal with the making of the film (how many writers, directors etc), shooting location, literature behind the film (example: who wrote the poem cited in Equilibrium?), music and things of that nature.

- Make sure the 3 possible answers and the correct answer doesn't stand out too much from each other.
If the question is about a name, make the three wrong answers similar to the correct answer (Harvey, Harold, Henry, Harris).
If the question is about a number make sure the correct number doesn't stand out from the three other ones like; 1, 2, 3, 6, but make it more like; 2, 4, 6, 8.
If the question is about an object make sure the answers is within the same category. Example; what was Larry's costume at the gay party? Answers: orange, apple, pear, coconut.
That way you don't reveal the answer.

- When I write down quizzes I usually do it like this:

1. What is the main character’s first name?
- Harvey
- Harold
- Henry
- Harris
Correct answer: X.

That way it's easy to keep track of how many questions you've got so far.

- When you're making the questions while watching the movie, remember that the people who are going to take it don't have the movie right in front of them, and what might seem like an easy question to you at the time, might be a bit too difficult to people who haven't just seen the movie.

That's about it. Everyone can do it and it doesn't take that long. Plus, you can do it while watching movies. :up:

Thanks for the rundown of your ideas as to creating a good quiz on MoFo, KK. With as many posts and reviews as I have now, I think I'd like to attempt creating a quiz in the near future. I found a couple of these pointers pretty helpful; I hadn't actually considered making the quiz wile actually watching the film I'm creating it for, but that seems to be a very good idea. Thank you, sir. :)
