It seems to be like this is getting too old too quick. |
Re: Quarantine
I'm not sure about this american remake. The original Spanish [REC] was bloody, terrifying in your face kinda horror. Loved it to bits.
Imagine Blair Witch+28 Days Later under 90 minutes, that'll make you pee. |
Re: Quarantine
I didn't like cloverfield as much the second time - but the first time was a lot of fun. They don't have [REC] at blockbuster :( .
Also , why remake a movie that just came out last year ? |

Re: Quarantine
I agree, i found [REC] to be terrifying, noobie. The american version though, i'm still unsure whether it could live up to its original.

Re: Quarantine
no, no, no - you guys are WRONG! (i hope. :D) This movie looks good from the trailer.

Television reporter Angela Vidal (Jennifer Carpenter) and her cameraman (Steve Harris) are assigned to spend the night shift with a Los Angeles Fire Station. After a routine 911 call takes them to a small apartment building, they find police officers already on the scene in response to blood curdling screams coming from one of the apartment units. They soon learn that a woman living in the building has been infected by something unknown. After a few of the residents are viciously attacked, they try to escape with the news crew in tow, only to find that the CDC has quarantined the building. Phones, internet, televisions and cell phone access have been cut-off, and officials are not relaying information to those locked inside. When the quarantine is finally lifted, the only evidence of what took place is the news crew's videotape.

Re: Quarantine
Look Alright, I'll Probably Be Seeing It Just Because I Love Zombie Movies.

Re: Quarantine
I have to see this movie, it would make Night of the Living Dead look like Barney or something lol
|
Re: Quarantine
plus, while I'm assuming it will be "cloverfield-esque," the trailer looks really clear and manageable, so no reason why the movie wouldnt be.

Re: Quarantine
Ive heard that the movie is based off a true story... Is this true??
|
Re: Quarantine
NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO
NO NO NO Do not watch the film, DO NOT EVEN WATCH THE TRAILER. It gives away the final scene. Everyone i know who's seen it has literally described their reactions the same way, as "shatting themselves" |

Yeah, it's based on a true story. Obviously it happened in Spain (where the original was set) and [rec] even incorporates some of the footage from the event, it caused some controversy in it's release because audiences and censors weren't sure if what they were seeing was actually snuff footage from the real events.

Re: Quarantine
This is looking like a great film. It seems my type of movie.

Re: Quarantine
I saw the trailer to this and it does look good. I hope it's scary. I haven't been really scared in years.

Re: Quarantine
I'm not a huge fan of horror flicks (mostly because the ones I do bother seeing turn out not-so-great) but this is one I might see... though I'm really more interested in the original spanish movie than the remake. Can't decide if I should wait and see if the remake scares the crap out of me or go for the original first, haha.

[rant]
Oh it was HORRIBLE!!!! OK. ok. let me take a chill pill. First things first. I did enjoy the premise of the movie and the dark, vampy atmosphere. I wish this were given to better filmmakers. :( It was like Cloverfield on drugs. Now - if youre a person who hated Cloverfield because it jiggled around like a handheld camera, let me tell you that this movie (in terms of handheld filming quality) makes Cloverfield look like a visionary masterpiece......that was filmed on a tripod! I am not kidding. As a person who felt zero motion sickness/disorientation during Cloverfield, and who has taken and edited hours upon hours of my own home videos - with and without a tripod - I can comfortably say that Quarantine was an insult to the viewing populace. It is almost as if they went for a Blair Witch esque on blur and in color feel, and I dont really "do" fake horror documentary. What's even SADDER is that the entire time I was squinting at the screen thinking Hold up the camera, dude! What's going on in there??. It was ridiculous. Even I know about night vision. How is it that we are supposed to believe that a professional cameraman doesnt know about night vision?? or that he is simply so dumb that he doesnt think of it until....well, until everyone is dead, basically. I mean give me a break. MY personal handycam has a better night lens filter than my naked eye, and even my naked eye adjusts to darkness. I know that they are able to simulate darkness on movies while still enabling viewers to see virtually everything. I resent squinting at ONE CORNER of the screen with the pinprick of light. FURTHERMORE. I completely respect the idea that people get scared when they are presented with a horror they cannot understand. I even understand screaming. .... .... .... .... Ok maybe not. But what I dont get is why these idiots would not SHUT UP. Anyone who has ever played a zombie game, watched a zombie movie, or even remotely understands zombie lore UNDERSTANDS that if they cannot HEAR you they cannot FIND YOU. I do not get why they did not just find a defensible hole, and camp out until things quieted down. To make it even worse, this chick screams the whole movie. The sheer number of people who died as a result of her fear was....intolerable. I would have put her down on general principle simply in order to save more lives. [/rant] I guess what I mean to say is that I feel that the whole claustrophobic / government-left-us-to-rot / we-have-to-escape storyline is a good one, but this one - with its poor filming, bad lines and incongruous decision-making - felt more like an abortive attempt. |
