Eliza Dushku (Bring It On) is in negotiations to star with De Niro and James Franco in "City by the Sea" for director Michael Caton-Jones. This would be the second film that De Niro, Dushku, and Caton-Jones have made together. The first was "This Boy's Life."
The story sounds intriguing. It is about a cop working on a murder investigation who discovers that his son is the killer. |
I personally don't like him. The only movies of his that I liked were The Fan and Ronin, kinda. Hes a good actor and all, just not an actor I like for some reason. Where do you keep getting lists of all these peoples works?
|
Probably from the Internet Movie Database (http://www.imdb.com) - quite a site. I use it all the time to settle disputes in our family over actors and such. :)

Nope, and I'm not revealing my sources.

FilmBug.com? Some sort of database on your hard drive? :)

I really like DeNiro. He's been in many movies I liked. Not only the drama films like Taxi Driver (which I didn't actually like) or Ronin (which I did), but the comedic turns have been fairly good. Movies like Midnight Run (with the Genius of Charles Grodin), Analyze This, Meet the Parents and Wag the Dog are terrific.
Also, he's been in some of the greatest movies of all time. Movies like Casino, The Untouchables and Goodfellas are classics. And Awakenings is among my favorite films, as well. He was excellent in that (as was Robin Williams, who was robbed of an Oscar for the second time on that film. The first being "The World According to Garp"). DeNiro is Greatness. |
Havn't seen all those - but I have seen most of Casino - what a flick! Great movie. The kind of movie where you just can't turn away, and half the time you don't even know why...you just can't.
I am glad to see DeNiro stray from the typical gangster films just a little bit - he needs to give someone else a chance! :) His switch to comedy recently (not totally of course, Men of Honor looks good) is very refreshing, and I think it will make him more popular overall, what with being exposed to a new audience for the most part. |
Deniro is in my top five favorite actors. He's both tough and funny.

Mistress!
That's the one I saw because that filmguy recommended it. I liked it. You can tell it's an old movie 'cause De Niro looks really young in it. He acted really well in it too. Flawless is the one with the big transvestite I was talking about in a different post. It was okay, the guy playing the crossdresser did a good job. Personally I think er.. sorry, I was just gonna spoil it. :O I liked him in Mad Dog and Glory too. Too bad he keeps getting typecast as a gangster so much. He's one guy who can play different characters and make them all believable. I don't go see movies just 'cause he's in 'em, but he is one of the best actors around. I've seen most of those movies you listed and pretty much liked them all! :) |
I kinda perk up when i hear his name, mainly bcause he's so famous. I don't really particularly like his acting. He's allright. I like his name "de niro!" it's italian, and i'm italian too (boy, 'Smith' is a real italian name!) lol

Re: How much do you like De Niro movies?
I really enjoy all of DeNiro's films. He's one of the greatest actors of all time. To rank his performances...
1. Cape Fear 2. Taxi Driver 3. GoodFellas 4. Raging Bull 5. The Godfather Part II 6. Heat 7. Meet The Parents 8. The Untouchables 9. Casino 10. Analyse This I enjoy many of his films. I find Cape Fear & Taxi Driver to be his best performances. Taxi Driver is his defining performance and in Cape Fear, he's ferociously evil and has many good lines. Everyone forgets how good he was in GoodFellas & Casino. In GoodFellas, I find him more menacing than Joe Pesci. Raging Bull was a great performance and his Al Capone was, in a word, awesome. |

Re: How much do you like De Niro movies?
DeNiro always feels like he doesn't want to do anything. I get a grumpy vibe from him, don't get me wrong, I love his work. He just has a doesn't care attitude. Some would say he's earned it, but I would say it is reflecting his current work.
In my opinion, he hasn't made a good film since Ronin, which was 1998. His last two films, Little Fockers and Stone, were abysmal. |
Re: How much do you like De Niro movies?
He's had some good stuff here and there for me. Heat and Goodfellas are two great flicks, and then Taxi Driver is another really good one. Aside from those 3, I haven't really seen anything insanely great, though I haven't seen movies like Raging Bull and The Deer Hunter, either.
|
I like most of his stuff, although I do remember not liking New York New York when it came out. To be fair I'll give it another chance though.

Re: How much do you like De Niro movies?
He's a really good actor, but a total sell out. I don't think he's done anything worth seeing since Goodfellas. Analyze This could be done by anyone, Cape Fear was De Niro masturbation, Casino was a failure of a cast reunion.
