Nintendo Wii
Anyone get a Wii this Christmas? I'm using it's browser now to type this, it takes a good while with the remote.
If anyone wants to swap wii numbers (to let our mii's meet), send me a private message. This probably sounds bizarre. |
I called around a bit the day after Christmas just to see what the climate was like, and the first call pretty much set the stage for me; Best Buy had a notice about the PS3 and Wii at the top of their phone tree. Also read an article which said supply problems for both could stretch until March. D'oh.
I'm ready to get one, but think it might be several wiiks, at the very least, until I manage to. |
If you've got a Wii, Have a look here, Some of it's hilarious!

My brother got Wii for his birthday in November, and I spent most of my Christmas vacation playing it. It's a hoot and a half. Very addictive. I miss holding my Wiimote and my earning points for my little Wii-Me alter-ego. It's Wiidiculous what a blast it is. Tennis was my absolute favorite and I was getting damned good at hitting my cross-court winners, but they were all fun. It does tire your arm out.
Then my brother lucked into finding a PS3 the day after Christmas, so he's been playing that ever since. I flew back to Portland last night, but I'm sure he's playing it as I type. |
I have been wanting to try the Wii out, as well. Luckily, my nephew got one for X-mas, and set it up at my Father's place. This Sunday I will give it a shot!

Holy... Welcome back Minion!
Anyway, back on the topic. I'm interested about the program. Using two controllers at the same time sounds hard with different type os games. |
Wii Sports is great, especially with other people. I genuinely feel it'll help me get fit if I do the training session every day (it tells you what fitness age you are at).
I've just started Legend of Zelda - Twilight Princess and up to now, it's outstanding. There's not many other launch titles that appeal to me but the Virtual Console is keeping me busy (Bomberman 93, Toejam and Earl and Donkey Kong Country. Anyone else actually get one??? |
wii is ridiculous if you ask me

I just prefer playing video games the normal way. I don't prefer waving your arms and body around in order to enjoy the game. (which is ridiculous part - imo) The controller is much better to me. |

Regardless of your answer, Wii games do not require the use of the Wiimote, I don't believe. You can use a normal controller instead, so branding the system "ridiculous" because you don't like an optional feature is kind of silly, in my mind. As is trying to characterize its control scheme as "waving your arms and body around." It's a great deal more precise than that. But, to each their own. |
Yes I have played it before. I played only a couple of games at a friends house with his nephew. Maybe experiencing with him I got a little awkward view of things. I don't know.
|
I'm tempted to get one eventually, it does look pretty brilliant. At the very least, Nintendo tend to specialise in being user-friendly and the entire system looks remarkably fun and sleek. But is it just me or do all of the playable games for it come across as rather regular minigames?
|
I'm loving mine. I can't decide just yet if bowling or tennis is better on Wii Sports, but I'm having a lot of fun regardless.
It makes you think how much fun a proper tennis game would be if someone ever gets round to it. Oh yeah, lightsaber game. |

I dont know about wii's. The graphics look ok but not spectacular from the few I have looked at. The sports look fun but all I ever hear about nintendo lately is their focus on the very young pre teen crowd. I dunno. Is this accurate concerning their focus on the much youger gamers? |

Has anyone smashed their TV or sprained their wrist yet?

I managed to get a Wii for my two boys, the girls all wanted clothes and jewlery and stuff like that. I had to get my sons to hook it up in the living room because they all want to play it now. I personally love it, sure the graphics are nothing ground breaking, but the interaction is great. You actually can get a bit of a work out and have fun at the same time. Sure it isnt a stairmaster, but maybe that will be next, a virtual workout in a gym where the girls do not run away from you.;) Anyway I think it is a wonderful system, and plan on getting some more games as I can afford them. I have yet to try out the extra features, weather, email, websurfing etc...

I'm with JRS. I don't like the Wii. It's doing wonderfully well, however, because of their target audience. But the console just doesn't cut it for me. I'll stick to not playing games and just watching HD content on my PS3.
I've strayed away from games and just moved over to high quality imagery. That's the primary reason I don't like the Wii, and not to mention I don't like the controls. I can fairly say that the last game that I'll probably put some serious focus into, will be Metal Gear Solid 4. After that, I'm pretty sure I'll be done with games for good. |

You register each others number (each wii console has it's own unique 16 digit code). When you've done this you can send each other email and see their mii characters in their plaza.
