I'd rather reply publicly, in case some other new members are wondering the same thing.

You can't make threads anywhere else because I've set a minimum of 25 posts to do so. Without this minimum, the site typically receives several spam threads (and plenty of misplaced or duplicate threads from careless new users) per day. The minimum helps ensure that the forum doesn't get clogged up and the mods and I aren't constantly removing/closing threads. It also tends to attract more thoughtful, patient posters.

That's nice. I'd hope you like movies, though, too.

You can't make threads yet because you have to prove your worth. Some choose to simply pay Yoda the $700 fee and skip this step, but we feel it's important to separate the wheat from the tares here. Get to bed early, there's a pretty demanding obstacle course you'll need to get through in the morning... Just don't believe OG- about the virgin sacrifices.
