No. Just pick the winning team.

*IF* it is tied at the end of season, the deadlocked Moes pick playoff games.

*IF* they are tied at the Super Bowl, they will have to pick the winner and the final total score. Closest wins.

Chypmunk 09-08-18 06:05 AM

I'll go for:
Chiefs
Giants
Jets
Patriots
Redskins

Camo 09-08-18 06:09 AM

This is probably stupid but i was thinking couldn't there be point differences considering whatever you go for?

For example Picking the Patriots over the Bills is obvious, yet picking the Eagles over the Falcons on Thursday is a much closer thing that is more deserving of points. Especially since the NFL Season is so short. I understand how subjective that is but maybe we could review and score matches before they happen? No? Okay!

One point per win streamlines thing. Upsets happen along with injuries, so it's hard to sort that stuff out.

The only sure thing is that road team loses on Thursday Night. oops.

I did this in 2016 and had some "rules". Good or bad, I think they convoluted things more than they contributed. The #1 thing I am going for is easy on you and me. I think I dropped your lowest scoring week and made it so you couldn't pick the same team 2 weeks in a row. I like minutiae like that, but the effort didn't equal the return. I had team pics and would do a new image every week...

I was in a great pool for several years. You would pick every game with no spread, but you would assign them a point value from 1 to 15 or however many games there were that week. It was $20 per week and there were a lot of people in it. First prize every week was around $5000, 2nd $2500, and 3rd about $800. Most participants would never win but I had a good strategy and won a ton of money. I would still be in it except it was one of my bookies that ran it and I wanted to cut ties.

Vikings vs 49ers
Patriots vs Texans

Giants vs Jaguars

Wanted to watch the Packers game but it doesn't start til 3AM here, those are all on at 6PM.

Re: 2018 NFL PickEm League

I say the Vikings/9'ers. Minnesota may have the best defense in the league this year and made a big splash by spending big money on a free agent quarterback that people still haven't figured out.

The 49'ers quarterback Jimmy GQ had a full off-season and training camp with the team and this feels like the first real chance for him to show if he is gonna be the next great quarterback in the league.

I'm sure this is gonna be the out of market national game.

cricket 09-09-18 08:21 AM

Vikes/SF isn't a bad choice. The Pats/Houston is rematch of last year which was a 36-33 thriller. Giants/Jags and Pitt/Cle have reasons to be interesting.

Camo 09-09-18 08:26 AM

Re: 2018 NFL PickEm League

Will probably go for Vikings/49ers then. The Patriots game was the main one i was considering, but i think i've seen them play more than any other team with how much they've been in the Super Bowl so it'd be better getting familiar with other teams.

Yea it's good for people to watch other teams sometimes so they appreciate what they've got in New England.

Would be hilarious if Brady went to sh*t this year and Garoppolo came out as one of the best QB's in the league.

I think Garoppolo will be good but not great. The league will have had ample opportunity to adjust to him by now and I think he's going to turn it over at a fairly high rate.

As far as Brady, it'll just be a matter of maintaining arm strength since he doesn't rely on athleticism at all.

He can only have 2-3 Seasons left at this point though, right? But yeah i was mostly joking the last two seasons haven't given any indication that he's declining and a big part of his role is intellect related which will only get better as he ages.

Supposesdly he wants to play until he's 45. Who knows?

cricket 09-09-18 09:09 AM

They certainly don't seem to be in a rush to find his successor.

That's exactly what i was wondering, does that suggest Belichick retires with Brady? I think when a QB hits 40 that's when you should start thinking about the next one even if they've got a few years left. It seems risky i mean Peyton declined very quickly it seems going from that MVP Season where he helped them to the Super Bowl to one of the worst QB's in the league within a couple of Seasons. I understand that was at least partially neck injury related, but like DD insinuated Brady's got to be at risk of a bad injury at his age possibly from one bad tackle. But yeah if he's playing another say three seasons they could get one for next season or the one after and have Brady mentor him before retiring.

cricket 09-09-18 09:26 AM

Everything is so hush hush within the organization that nobody really knows, but there's nothing to suggest a correlation between Belichick's and Brady's retirement. I understand when people say Brady is at risk of injury due to his age and also his lean stature, but he's so much less likely to take that crippling hit than other players. He's also proven to be ridiculously tough. He missed the one year with a knee injury but besides that, I can't even remember him getting shaken up even on seemingly devastating hits.

If he does stick around it's gonna be weird seeing him without Brady, the Season Brady was out they still finished 11-5 though so i wouldn't doubt him. Same as seeing Popovich Post-Duncan (and now Kawhi), i feel like he's somehow gonna find a way to get the Spurs back into contention within five years if he sticks around.

I guess it'll depend on the situation. That year they went 11-5 they had the best roster they ever had, a QB who would be a pro bowler 2 years later in KC, and they still dropped 5 games off the previous season and weren't close to a championship threat. Great coaching can be hard to quantify because you need players who are true difference makers to contend. I certainly wouldn't want to lose Belichick but he's getting up there in age. So is Pop.

Did they lose a lot between the 2008 and 2009 Seasons? Because with Brady back they went 10-6. The Season before the 16-0 one they only went 12-4 too. Just curious, i know he's a major difference maker and fact is Belichick can come up with the schemes and tactics but if there's not someone there like Brady who can carry them out so consistently then they're largely useless.

Yep they lost a ton and then they really struggled with a subpar roster until about the last 5 years. Even when they got to the Super Bowl in 2010 they weren't a really good team.

I think Pitt probably comes together as a team and uses it as motivation. I'm just curious to see if the Browns finally show improvement with all that talent they've collected.

The Browns are like the Clippers of the NFL traditionally, right? Always somehow making the worst decisions even when they seemed like the right one at the time and having the worst record a seemingly impossible amount considering you have a high draft pick after one of those seasons.

God, i hate the Vikings already. It's not even the end of the first quarter yet but i feel you're right about Garropolo Cricket, the Vikings seem to have a good read on him and he keeps throwing incomplete passes. They quickly got a turnover. Still 0-0 though.

Was literally just thinking that as they just showed a quick highlight of that.

Man, either Garropolo is terrible or the 49ers defence is. He's been sacked twice. Also Vikings just got a touchdown, 10-0

There's a Packers player called Ha Ha Clinton-Dix!

Really surprised i'm 3-1 right now, both New Orleans and Baltimore looked like they were gonna lose for a while. Go Packers!

Camo 09-09-18 09:48 PM

Are you not allowed to touch helmets? Rogers just got a 43 yard pass but a penalty got called because one of the dudes protecting Rogers did something, all i could see was he accidentally brushed his hand down a Bears players helmet. Unless i'm missing something. Also Rogers was pissed with one of his Wide Receivers for not catching a pass on their first drive. 7-0 Bears :(

TOUCHDOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How the hell, awesome. Some dude ran like a mile after a decent one legged Rogers pass.
@rauldc14 :highfive:

Camo 09-10-18 12:31 AM

YES!!! Some dude got a sack with a minute left, i really need to start learning these dudes names other than Rogers and Ha Ha Clinton Dix. Sorry for spamming the thread, that was just tense as hell. 24-23 after being 17-0 down, thanks to a cripple essentially :D

One legged Rogers>Two legged whatever the backups name is. Can't see this season going well if Rogers is out for long though.

3-2

Huh? You thought the Packers were going to win when they were 0-20 with a few minutes left in the third quarter, a quarterback on one leg and a horribly performing defence? You must be some sort of NFL Savant haha, everyone else seems to be surprised.

No it's not like that. I just have faith in players and teams that have done it before and faith that teams like the Bears will screw up.
