Ikiru vs. Tokyo Story

If you had to pick one, which one would it be? Why is that?

Ikiru is more hopeful, despite having a lead character dying from cancer. Plus Tokyo Story seems to be the quintessential Ozu, whereas he has several films that are way better.

Ikiru definitely leaves a hopefull view on making things better, it doesn't matter how subtle those things might be. The movie has some magnificent frames, better in quality than some in Tokyo Story(Even tho it's not far in quality IMO). Now if I'd pick one it would be TS. It was my first try on Ozu and I admired it very much. He captured something so intrinsic on many daily lives that it touched my empathic side for those main characters. I felt like they were related to me somehow.

Tokyo Story. Holds the movie better. Ikiru's middle part is a little stretched.
