Best Harry Potter Character

Who was your favorite from the films? Had the discussion with some co-workers yesterday and would be interested in seeing the thoughts of this community's diverse film climate.

*Goes on as Dumbledore*

Let the votes roll in!

It's pretty hard not to pick Snape, given the whole arc.

No contest. One of the greatest characters ever written in modern literature.

Sirius! Dobby a close second. I think I'm bound to have a hole in my heart for the rest of my life after they both died.

The greatest, I’m pretty sure the general consensus has been in the literary world for a while now. Insanely well-made character, and will go down as (even if he is already) a hugely iconic and influential figure in literature and cinema. But he’s not my favorite from the series. That feat belongs to this ol' man.

Hagrid was always based.

I’m a Mundungus kind of guy.

Edit: ah, how could I forget the one wizard that matters?

Snape's arc was commendable, as pointed by the others above, and I love him, but for sheer complexity Dumbledore wins for me.

So many characters to pick from, but I always absolutely adored Luna! Voted for her

Lupin- the mentor and teacher I always wished I had, one to seek advice from when life gets a little rough.

Ian Brown?

On another note, each and every one listed has received at least a vote. That's awesome.

I went with Voldemort. Easily the best villain I've ever seen in Literature & Cinema.

Snape, Snape, Severus Snape – Dumbledore! No, really, it’s one of the two. Don't have me decide ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

snape is considered one of the greatest characters of modern literature? This is news to me.

Still pissed that they never revealed whether Crookshanks survived The Deathly Hallows or not.

Without question. The common perception has been for a while now that he is not only one of the greatest, but the greatest (or at the very least the most complex and polygonal) character of modern literature.

The problem with Sauron for me is that you only see his eye and his physical form in the films is a bit daft.
