Need Some Horror Movies.

Hello Everyone,

With the World cup coming up and me working from home and all matches wrapping up by late afternoon and daylight stretching till 20:30 almost, I need to get some horror movies done.

I was looking around for some, most of the famous ones i have already seen. I say i dont really watch horror as I live alone, but when i look back, I have seen a lot, but mostly of them a long time ago.

Cant find the some good ones that are out there. The ones i haven't seen are all rated below 6 on IMDB. They dont really fill me with confidence, but who knows, there might be a few surprises in there.

My only thing is, I dont like slashers and I hate zombie movies unless its like Hot Fuzz. Just mention some good ghouls and ghosts and I would be fine.

I love Zombieland. The title sequence alone is worth seeing.

Well I've just watched The Conjuring (2013) – that's a good one. The ghost in The Woman in Black (2012) is even scarier. Scarier still, to my mind, are the ones in Entity (2012). And then there's my favourite horror film, The Entity (1982). The Eclipse (2009) and Haunted (1995) are also very interesting films.

I've got to get hold of The Stone Tape (1972) at some point. I've never seen it but watching The Conjuring really reminded me of the plot.

Funny Games (1997)/(2007)
The VVitch (2015)
Creep 1/2 (2014)/(2017)
Fatal Attraction (1987)
The Wicker Man (1973)
Green Room (2015)

Big fan of Ginger Snaps, always worth a watch. Also Rosemary's Baby, House on Haunted Hill (1959). The Voices, Drag Me To Hell, and Prevenge are all quite modern ones, but quite tongue in cheek.

Dog Soldiers (2002) is very popular; it was on the other day.

Cool. Thanks for the inputs. At least these might last me till the group stages.

I didn't know anything about ginger snaps when I first saw it thinking maybe it was like Chuck as a wee wolf kind of style. I was pleasantly surprised. I haven't seen GS2

I watched Hereditary (2018) this evening. It was quite good, atmospheric and amazing. I wholeheartedly recommend it.

I don't tend to do horror sequels, the quality tends to decline with each one (Dream Warriors being the exception!) so I've only seen the first GS too. I'd been after seeing it for ages, but it's quite hard to get hold of here. It turned up on Shudder so I got a free trial and watched loads on there!

The only sequel I thought was as good if not slightly better was The Collector, but I was a big fan of the novel and other works by John fowles. Whatever happened to him just checked. Vale.

It's been a long time since I've seen any of the Ginger Snaps -films but I'd remember both sequels being at least OK too.

Also some recommendations (some may be hard to find, I have no idea about current availability): Dark Waters (1994), A Tale of Two Sisters (2003), The Slayer (1982), The Changeling (1980), The Company of Wolves (1984), Spasms (1983), Dagon (2001) and Sinister (2012).

Thanks for the more suggestions. Pre 2010s, I have seen a lot of them. At least back then I had room mates. But the ones i haven't i guess it time to give it a try when the sun is shining!

2011 was my first attempt alone. One movie in a virtually empty theater and i took my retirement!

All good . The Brood 's an interesting one. Haven't seen it in ages. I really liked May as well. Loved Angela Bettis, who also did Carrie, oddly enough in the same year.
