1940s-50s Old couple dance as the years melt away.

I only really remember the final scene of the film where an older couple dance, and as they dance the years melt away and they become young again. It was a sad film, I remember shedding a tear as it ended. The special effect of the couple getting younger seemed very realistic to me at the time, though it might not hold up nowadays! Would love to know the name so I could watch it again. I believe the film was from the 1940-50s.

Hmm, my searches have been unsuccessful so far, -- there is not much to work with here.

Can you think of any other detail? Sometimes even a vague idea about something from the movie plot can get results.

Did you watch this on TV?

A similar film to that described might be The Enchanted Cottage (1945). It has scenes where a couple in love visually 'transform'. Worth a look perhaps.
