Probably about 30, including boxsets. I used to have about twice as many, before I started using Netflix.

I've got 500+ films on dvd plus all my tv programme dvd box sets (Simpsons ect.) I should really update my dvdaf collection then i could give an exact number.

I know this thread has been posted before, but meh...whatever. Getting lax in my old(er) age, I suppose.

I'm hovering around 100 DVDs, myself. I've stopped buying them all that often as of late. It should be noted, though, that about 15 or 16 of those are seasons of a television series. So if we're talking actual discs, well, I've got significantly more. I usually only count them as one each, though.

Last time I counted I had about 500 films (plus several TV and documentary DVDs).....and I'm not counting about 70 I didn't like that I put in the loft. It's great to have hundreds of great films to choose from at any time.....but how long are they gonna last before a new format arrives - I mean they already have HD-DVDS.

Im sitting at 607 right now...

yep, the formats will change, but it doesn't make your dvd's useless, so I keep buying and collecting them...just think, some films are not even on dvd yet! so I think we have a good 10 years before the next format is bigger than dvd's...I'll try and post some pics of mine up

Somewhere in the 400's, at least. I recently counted and it was at least 400. But I look at the collection and it feels like I have very little DVDs... many people would disagree with me. If someone only has like 5 or 6 DVDs, I wonder what they're on, because it's crazy to me. I knew someone like that. I wish I had thousands of DVDs, if only to have them for reference. Maybe when I win the Mega Millions lottery.

I have very few movies. I collect music documentaries and rare independent films. When I see a movie I will only watch it once or I won't like it anymore, therefore I will only rent movies. I do have about 20 some odd music and independent films though, and about 4 or 5 tv shows and maybe 6 movies. Then I still have about 500 movies on VHS lmao

My own personal collection consists of about 50 to 60 DVDs, including a couple of box sets.

I stalled for a long time on buying CDs (because we have several premium channels and On Demand and Netflix). And, until recently, I never understood the appeal of buying whole entire TV series on DVD. But suddenly I started to "get" it and now I'm finding I'm buying more TV series than movies (which take up more room on the shelf).

It started when I would buy hubby the latest Survivor season on DVD for either Xmas or his birthday. And now we have about four or five Survivors seasons, Lost 1, BSG 1-2.5, Wonderfalls, 24 Day 5, The Weird Al Show, and a few others. Plus, the requisite movies. I still tend to buy movies I know we'll still want to be watching years from now: Mel Brooks/Gene Wilder movies, Naked Gun series, classic comedies (new and old).

I try not to buy stuff I think is just a "fad"-type movie.

I have a tiny collection. That's the way I'd like to keep it. I don't like owning things like this unless I'm actually going to watch them over and over.

I rarely watch a movie many times. Those few I do, I either have or they are on my "wish" list which anyone close to me can access.

I would say my collection is quite large at about 121 DVDs. These include seasons 1-7 of Buffy The Vampire Slayer, 1-5 of Angel, and seasons 1-5 of 24 aka the best televisions shows that work best on DVD : )

Ha de ha. Yeah there are others, Mr Jocular, and most of my films are 4 star quality excluding Smokin' Aces which I only like because of the chemistry between Ryan Reynolds and Ray Liotta. Oh, and Alcia Key's thighs. ;)

I have 176 DVDs. Can't say there are all store bought originals however. Verbatim dvdrs ftw.

Also im counting things with more than 1 disc as 1 dvd. My boxset of the Prisoner is 5 discs for example.

I guess I am a bit regretful of having a ton of copies in my collection. At least I cant tell the difference between DVD9 and DVD5 quality.

I will buy them all as originals when I am a millionaire!

That set up looks very nice there Johnners. Now all you need is a nice big fat 60 inch LCD Plasma T.V. to be surrounded by the DVDs instead of that tiny one in your pic and you'll be in heaven. :D

Just under 2,500. I have some of the WORST films ever made...and I love them. I have some that they should have paid me to get. A lot of box sets as well.

My DVDs are slowly being replaced by HD-DVDs. I do have most of my DVDs now, but the HD-DVD catalogs are building up and so will my HD library. :yup:

At a rough guess, I'd say 150, give or take. Certainly enough to have run out of room on my miniature DVD racks (5 racks that hold 15 DVDs apiece, and I filled them up months ago)

I only have a little over 1,000 DVD, and well over 4,000 VHS. That's the difference in renting, and buying a home. Back in the day of VHS, I obviously had more money for movie shopping. :(

If I can count TV shows, then it will grow quite a bit. I am collecting over 20 shows, so far, and aim to get many more. Then again, if animation counts . . . well, I do have children . . . then it just grew a ****-load more. Hell, so did the VHS.

Nevermind. I don't want to count all that crap.

I'll be celebrating my 575th title this week on dvd. I sold/gave-away/threw-out over 800 vhs tapes waaaaaaay back in the '90's and I probably won't get that close with dvd's for quite some time. And now with BluRay, I'm making careful decisions on what to buy on that format also. But we all need hobbies, right? :p

800 plus, they are so eay to buy especially if you buy them in sets and gift box sets. If were down to number of films the count is higher because of some discs holding three or more films, especially the cheapie horrors.

The current disc count on my DVDAF DB is...

327 Titles which contain 558 DVDs.

I have a lot of TV seasons etc that cause the disparity in disc count...

I got about 40 dvds give or take with some blu-ray. Most being crime/horror/drama old and modern classics. Got a bunch of discs burned off my CPU though.

I haven't been buying movies like I used to. Between the fact that there just isn't much in the way of new releases that I've wanted to own and the fact that I have a Netflix account now, there isn't much point.

They also have a Horror pack, which I have, a Noir pack, a Family pack, and a . . . I dunno, but they have at least one more.

Yep! Some are rubbish, but there's some real gems - Death Rides a Horse being a standout example.

I just did a count for the first time ever, really. Well, since about 2003, anyway. Took me three days to inventory them all. I'm too embarrassed to say what the total is. I knew it was in that general ballpark, but to actually see it as a number...yikes.

Once raccoons and such start living amongst my collection, maybe you'll all be able to see me on an episode of "Hoarders"?
