What are good movies where someone loses everything, without villains?

Movies where people cause their own downfall, or circumstances do.

Demolition (2015.. Jake Gyllenhaal
Barry Lyndon (1975... Ryan O'Neal... d Kubrick)
The Big Street (1940's... Lucielle Ball & Henry Fonda)

Speaking of, there is another movie that have only vague memories of from when I was a kid. I thought it has Lucielle Ball in it but looking through her filmography it doesn't seem to be there, so maybe I was wrong. Anyhow, it is B&W, wasn't a full on comedy but the main character & family lose everything because of the Wall Street Crash in 1929 and the misadventures that follow... bit like the premise of Schitt's Creek - and no, am not thinking of Auntie Mame or Mame, although those could fit the bill also for this thread also.
