Help identifying a post disaster lower budget movie.
 

I am looking for the title of a movie about a man who is surviving by digging through the ground to break through the roof of houses that have been covered in some disaster. He breaks through the roofs to gather supplies. I was told about the movie but not the name and can find no info about it. Would be a lower budget movie.

The family is trapped in a house under the avalanche with a murderous thief. In a big part of the movie, they have to dig not through the ground but snow up to the roof.
